Update April 3, 2020: This Sunday, April 5, we will resume opening on Sundays, meaning we are open EVERY DAY from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Please make a point of dining “with” us (while exercising appropriate social distancing, of course), by calling in your order or by ordering online. We’re offering delivery within 10 miles of the Brown Barrel for $2, but you can also pick up your order – call us at 859-403-2003 when you arrive and we’ll bring your order to your car.

Our new grocery is well-stocked, as is our liquor store, so please feel free to stop by or call in an order for fresh meat and seafood as well as other staples.

Finally, we want to thank all those who so loyally have made a point of patronizing the Brown Barrel & Blind Harry’s during this difficult time. We are making it through with your help, but we need your continued support, as no one knows how long this will last. We can’t stay in business without you! Be well and be safe!

Update March 17, 2020: Our lunch special today is Corned Beef & Cabbage. Soup of the Day is Potato. We’ll be posting specials throughout this change in service, but want to remind our patrons that your support will keep us alive! We’re counting on you! 🙂

This Friday, we’ll be having a Fish Fry for curbside pickup! Please join us!

UPDATE, March 16, 2020: Effective Tuesday, March 16, the Brown Barrel will be open for takeout, curbside and delivery orders (details below) from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. We will be CLOSED on SUNDAYS. Our retail store is still open for package goods, and we will soon be opening a grocery section to sell fresh meats. We again want to thank all of you for your continued patronage – we are counting on your support to make it through this difficult time.

March 13, 2020: I want to thank all our patrons for the longstanding support of the Brown Barrel & Blind Harry’s. As a small business, we are totally dependent on your continued patronage, even in tough times. So it goes without saying that we hope you’ll continue to visit us even as we all share concerns about the Coronavirus.

We have always taken great pride in running a clean, healthy restaurant and adhering to the strictest standards for health and cleanliness. Virus or no virus, we all want to feel safe and secure when we go out to eat. Cleanliness is a key to that, so we have always taken great pains to make sure our food is stored and prepared in the cleanest conditions possible, and we make a point of cleaning every table thoroughly whenever we turn that table over to another customer.

In light of current events, we are doubling down on those habits, making absolutely certain that the Brown Barrel and Blind Harry’s are a safe place for you to dine and enjoy time together.

A few points for those of you who might be concerned about coming in:

  • “Social distancing” means staying away from large groups of people or people who are likely to infect you. If you would normally share a meal with healthy family and friends at home, we hope you are comfortable doing the same at an establishment like ours.
  • You might consider coming in during off-peak hours to avoid the crowds.
  • If you are uncomfortable coming in, you can always order online HERE and pick up your order when it’s ready.
  • Finally, effective today, we are offering delivery within ten (10) miles of the Brown Barrel. To cover a portion of our costs, we will add a $2 delivery fee to each order, but we will bring it to you, whether you order by phone or online. Of course, a tip for the driver would be appreciated as well, since our servers are delivering and they are likely to take a financial hit if business drops off.

I want to assure all our patrons that our top priority is to serve safe, healthy and great-tasting food that will keep you coming back even after this current challenge. Feel free to call me with questions or concerns, or to ask for me or Don when you stop in. We’re glad to answer any questions!

Thanks again!
